[EN] Introduction and objectives: The use of neuromonitoring in thyroid surgery is controverted. The neuromonitoring support in identifying the recurrent laryngeal nerve, informs about their function at the end of surgery and supports decision making. Objective: To review the most relevant literature on the validity of the laryngeal neuromonitoring in thyroid surgery and explain an algorithm. Methods: Bibliographical review. Results: Neuromonitoring accuracy in thyroid surgery is over 90%, variable among studies. Conclusions: Neuromonitoring is useful if there is signal loss or if there is previous laryngeal paralysis and has utility in the management of the airway. | es_ES |
