<link>http://hdl.handle.net/10366/70320</link>
[EN] Latin grammarians in the first centuries of the Middle Ages passed on faithfully grammatical theories and terminology which had been handed down to them from Antiquity. They did, however, make personal contributions in those areas which tradition left more open such as, for example, the category of grammatical case. They put forward new variants for case names which captured in as clear and complete a manner as possible those logico-semantic values which justified their choice of terms. They got involved in open debates around the especially controversial nature of some cases: the nominative case, the vocative case or the ablative case, which is specific to Latin (as compared to Greek).

[EN] Some zoological terms collected in the nomina animalium of Polemius Silvius’ Laterculus turn out to be unknown and difficult to identify. Sometimes by the appropriate corrections or by the resort to written testimonies from the Greco-roman zoological tradition, the identification of the forms hidden behind an unrecognizable appearance becomes possible. Other times, at least, some hypothesis on the interpretation of these terms can be formulated.

<link>http://hdl.handle.net/10366/70306</link>
[EN] The paper examines the problem which is put by the twice appearing list of seven disciplinae which first time are given as subdivisions of «physics» and other time as parts of «philosophy» in the Isidorian corpus. It proposes to identify the main source the author was inspired by with a locus of Hieronymus’ Dialogues against Pelagians. It examines how Isidorus afterwards made changes to this pattern. It points out the fact that the sentence, such as it appears in the Book of Numbers, is afterwards written again by Aldhelm, and suggests some consequences which have to be drawn from noticing this fact.

[EN] This paper aims to analyse the Passio Perpetuae from the perspective of modern narratology, with special attention to its narrative mode (mimesis vs. diegesis). The preminence of mimetic strategies can help us to understand why the text claims itself to be a repraesentatio rerum and to draw some pragmatic consequences: the possibility of a quasi-theatrical rendering of the text withing its obviously liturgical context and the reconsideration of Perpetua’s voice as belonging to a mysteriously absent narrator.

<link>http://hdl.handle.net/10366/70304</link>
[EN] The etymon of modern French word «particule», lat. particula, is clearly related to pars orationis, as a diminutive form. By studying the complete corpus of its occurrences in Latin grammatical texts, we try to watch over its semantic evolution, from a singulative use for items illustrating classwords to the late latin and already modern meaning of «little word whose meaning is subject to contextuel variations», with special regards to the socalled «expletive» conjunctions.

<link>http://hdl.handle.net/10366/70303</link>
Parmi les exemples proposés, l’Auteur s’occupe de l’étymologie de homo, qui anticipe l’image utilisée par Dante pour décrire les gourmands du Purgatoire (XXIII)./n ABSTRACT: The De nota aspirationis and the De diphthongis written by a magister Apuleius (the last 25 years or end of XII century) concern the orthography of the Latin nota aspirationis and diphtongues. They aim to teach the rules of recta scriptura as formulated by the grammatica to a milieu interested in copying, emendatio, and lectio of Sacred texts. The Artes lectoriae and the metro-prosodical treatises written during XIth and XIIth centuries were also addressed to this milieu and were organized following the same structural criteria as those used by Apuleius. In order to evaluate the graphic proprietas of every ambiguous Latin word, Apuleius systematically either employs the criterion differentiae causa, or etymology. The present contribution particularly concerns the cases where Apuleius shows etymology as a research for a concordantia between «signifiant» and res significata. Amongst the examples proposed, the Author deals with the etymology of Lat. homo, which preceeds Dante’s description of the physical condition inherent in the «golosi» (Purgatory, XXIII).

<link>http://hdl.handle.net/10366/70288</link>
[EN] By collecting and analysing the rhetorical glosses of the Commentum Terenti attributed to Eugraphius, it is possible to reconstruct with a good level of accuracy the status-system employed by the commentator. This system is very similar, although not identical, to the system of thirteen issues also found in the Rhetores Latini Minores. This analysis allows us to appreciate the commentary as a whole and sheds light on the figure and the motivations of Eugraphius, both a commentator of Terentius and a professor of rhetoric.

[EN] According to Tiberius Claudius Donatus, in the struggle between Pyrrhus and Priamus in the second book of Vergil's Aeneid the Trojan king causes of his own will the reactions of Achules' son, in order to be killed by him. His main weapon is the deformatio of Pyrrhus, a rhetorical device blaming not only Pyrrhus, but Achules too.
