The Local Board in Cartagena represented a remarkable case because of the diversity and importance of their activities, as well as the institutions and iniciatives promoted (the Child's House, School canteen, clothes distribution and holiday camps, open air schools, children's reformatory, free distribution of milk, school medical service, and the Institute for pre-natal care). In this paper the mentioned institutions and iniciatives are analysed together with the role played in them by several persons and, away them, Félix Martí Alpera.; La modernización de la legislación protectora a la infancia en España, a comienzos del siglo XX, propició, a nivel municipal a través de las creadas Juntas locales de Protección a la Infancia y Represión de la Mendicidad, ciertas posibilidades de actuación en este ámbito. La Junta Local de Cartagena constituyó un caso destacado, por la diversidad e importancia de las actuaciones emprendidas, así como las instituciones e iniciativas higiénico-sanitarias, escolares, circumescolares, correctoras y asistenciales que promovió (la Casa del Niño, la cantina, el ropero y las colonias escolares, las escuelas al aire libre, el reformatorio para niños, la gota de leche, el servicio médico-escolar y el Instituto de Maternología). Este artículo analiza dichas instituciones e iniciativas y el papel desempeñado en ellas por diversos personajes y, entre ellos, por Félix Martí Alpera.
