En ambas piezas el tema de la identidad, recurrente en la obra de Unamuno, se plasma a través del doble, motivo de raigambre romántica. En «El que se enterró», la presencia del Doppelgänger subraya la insuficiencia del pensamiento racionalista para explicar la realidad. El Otro, por su parte, ahonda con más énfasis en la tragedia de la disgregación de personalidad, en la imposibilidad del sujeto de preservar su identidad en un mundo donde ya no existen las certezas absolutas.; [EN] This article offers a study of the short story «El que se enterró» and a research of its connections with the drama El Otro. In both literary pieces the theme of identity, recurrent in Unamuno’s work, is expressed through the double or Doppelgänger, motif which has its roots in Romantic movement. In «El que se enterró», the double points the deficiencies of racionalism to explain the reality. Likewise, El Otro emphasizes the tragedy of personality disintegration, the impossibility of preserve the human identity in a world where there aren’t absolute certainties.
