La explotación minera de Wadi el-Hudi bajo el reinado de Senusert I

Abstract

Along the Middle Kingdom, many areas, rich in mineral resources, were exploited outside the Nile Valley margins. The inscriptions that these expeditions left and their analysis allow us to know about the structure of these expeditions, and in many cases, about their relationship with the Egyptian national administration. One of the most exploited areas was wadi el-Hudi, in the Eastern Desert, in the frontier with Lower Nubia. During the reign of Senusert I, control over the southern part of the country was consolidated, and routes to this mining area were reopened, especially in the second half of the reign, in wich much acivity can be appreciated.

A lo largo del Reino Medio, numerosas zonas ricas en recursos mineros fueron explotadas en los márgenes del Valle del Nilo. Las inscripciones dejadas por esas expediciones y su análisis permiten conocer mejor la estructura de estas expediciones, y en muchos casos su relación con la administración central del país. Una de las zonas más explotadas fue Wadi el-Hudi, en el desierto oriental egipcio limitando con la Baja Nubia. En el reinado de Senusert I se afianzó el control sobre el sur del país y se reabrieron las rutas a esta zona minera, apreciándose una gran actividad en la segunda mitad de este reinado.
