Introducción al libro La mujer en las artes visuales y escénicas

Abstract

[ES]Este trabajo presenta el libro Women in the Visual and Performing Arts, haciendo hincapié en la variedad de estilos, alto grado de experimentación y géneros vanguardistas creados por mujeres artistas de todo el mundo, tanto en las artes visuales como en las escénicas, muchas de ellas combinando visual y escénico en sus expresiones artísticas. El libro incluye una panorámica histórica de las mujeres en las artes, presentando teoría al igual que testimonios de las propias artistas que nos cuentan el proceso de sus creaciones, y la metodología y técnicas teatrales o pictóricas utilizadas por algunas de ellas en el aula, en instituciones penitenciarias o en comunidades que sufren discriminación como es le caso de las mujeres indígenas de Chiapas, México. El libro incluye igualmente una obra inédita elaborada mediante improvisación por las mujeres de una población en Chiapas. [EN] This essay introduces the book Women in the Visual and Performing Arts, emphasizing the great variety of styles, a high degree of experimentation and broad avant-garde genres created by women artist worldwide, in visual arts as well as in the performing arts, and in many cases, combining both. The book includes a historical overview of women in the arts, combining theoretical essays on the arts, personal testimonies of some artists who explain their creative process, and the methodology and theatrical techniques used by other women in the classroom, in penitentiaries or in communities who suffer from discrimination such as the case of indigenous women in Chiapas, Mexico. The book also includes an unpublished theatre play created in improvisation by the indigenous women of Chiapas.
