Se habla de sus escritos y opiniones sobre los regionalismos, el patriotismo, la lengua castellana, la geografía española, el paisaje castellano, la herencia romana, la Reconquista, la expansión a América, los reyes Austrias y Borbones, el catolicismo, la España liberal, el Renacimiento, la decadencia, la europeización, la literatura española en un contexto histórico.
