"'Uyun al-ajbar". El libro de las mujeres Ibn Qutayba

Abstract

[ES] Este estudio ofrece, principalmente, una visión del papel que desempeña la mujer en la literatura árabe a través de las distintas manifestaciones en prosa y en verso desarrolladas por autores que datan desde la época preislámica hasta la llamada era moderna. Para dicho estudio, se ha traducido uno de los libros que componen la obra titulada ‘Uyūn al-ajbār (Florilegio de noticias), escrita por el famoso prosista del s. IX Ibn Qutayba, concretamente la que este autor dedica a las mujeres, el Kitāb al-Nisā’ (Libro de las mujeres). Este insigne autor cultivó el género de prosa literaria adab y, junto a Ibn Muqaffa„ y al-Ŷāḥiẓ, es su representante más célebre. Escribió más de 23 obras, entre las que destaca la arriba citada ‘Uyūn al-ajbār, un libro de carácter enciclopédico en el que su autor, con un estilo culto pero a su vez ameno y cercano, relata tradiciones, anécdotas y leyendas de diversos personajes, en su mayoría conocidos por la tradición cultural del islam, y que resulta de un gran valor literario e histórico. En la presente tesis se incluye una introducción sobre la vida y obra del autor, así como la traducción árabe-español del cuarto de los libros que componen la ya citada obra, Kitāb al-Nisā’ (Libro de las mujeres), nunca antes traducida al español, asimismo, se presenta un análisis literario de algunos de los versos y relatos traducidos.

[EN] This study mainly offers a perspective on the role that woman plays in Arabic literature through the different prose and verse used by authors from the pre-Islamic era through the so-called modern era. This study translates one of the books of ‘Uyūn al-ajbār (Florilegium of news) that was written by the famous 9th century writer Ibn Qutayba, specifically the book that the author dedicates to women: Kitāb al-Nisā’ (Book of women). This distinguished author cultivated the prose genre adab and, along with Ibn Muqaffa„ and al-Ŷāḥiẓ, he is its most famous representative. He wrote more than 23 literary works, among which the one previously mentioned stands out ‘Uyūn al-ajbār. It is a book of encyclopedic character in which the author, with an educated as well as pleasant style, relates traditions, anecdotes, and legends of diverse characters, mostly known because of the cultural tradition of islam, and that brings great literary and historical value. In the thesis, an introduction to the life and works of the author is included, along with the Arab-Spanish translation of the fourth book, Kitāb al-Nisā’ (Book of women), never translated before into Spanish. Also, a literary analysis of some of the translated verses is presented here.
