Importancia de la maniobra de impulso óculo-cefálico o Head impulse test en la consulta otorrinolaringológica general

Abstract

[ES] La maniobra de impulso oculocefálico es una prueba sencilla que aporta gran información en el estudio de los pacientes con patología vestibular. A pesar de una relativa baja sensibilidad, su especificidad es muy alta por lo que puede ser de gran ayuda tanto en el diagnóstico del déficit vestibular severo como en el diagnóstico diferencial de patologías vestibulares agudas como la Neuritis vestibular.En este trabajo se repasa la fisiología del reflejo vestíbulo-oculomotor, la realización de la prueba, la interpretación de los resultados así como las ventajas de su realización

[EN] Head thrust test is a simple test that provides great information in the study of patients with vestibular pathology. Despite a relatively low sensitivity, the specificity is very high so it can be helpful in diagnosing severe vestibular deficit as in the differential diagnosis of acute vestibular disorders such as neuritis vestibular. In this paper we review the physiology vestibulooculomotor reflex, performing the test, the interpretation of the results and the advantages of its realization
