Nuevas reflexiones sobre por qué he dejado de crear e-Literatura

Abstract

[ES] He decidido dejar de crear nuevas piezas de e-Literatura. Siento que las dudas e interrogantes de naturaleza ética que rodean a la creación artística electrónica son demasiado importantes como para ser ignoradas. En este ensayo, reflexiono sobre la nota con la que originalmente anuncié esta decisión, cuya intención es la de atraer la atención de la comunidad de creadores y estudiosos de la e-Literatura hacia la grave ausencia de una valoración ética, considerada e integrada como parámetro tanto de creación como de análisis. Ante la innegable materialidad de las tecnologías digitales, cuya fabricación implica el desmantelamiento de sistemas naturales y sociales alrededor del mundo, me parece urgente replantear la relación del arte y la literatura con sus nuevos soportes, desde una dimensión en la que tengan cabida la ética, la investigación transdisciplinar y la ingeniería crítica.

[EN] I have stopped creating new works of e-Literature. I feel that the ethical questions which surround the creation of artworks within an electronic medium are too important to be ignored. In this essay, I reflect upon the note through which I originally announced my decision, whose main intention is to point the attention of the e-Literature community towards the serious absence of ethical assessments within the discipline. I believe these assessments should be considered and integrated as parameters for both the creation and the study of the works of e-Literature. In face of the undeniable materialness of digital technologies, whose manufacturing processes imply the dismantling of natural and social systems in different parts of the world, I believe that rethinking the relationships between literature and its new medium becomes an urgent task, which should be approached in a multidimensional way, including ethics, transdisciplinary research and critical engineering.
