Epicuro y Atenas: la creación de una comunidad identitaria distinta de la pólis

Abstract

This paper intends to demonstrate that Epicurus’ life was influenced by the political facts that Athens went through during the period from 341 to 267 B.C. And also that through the analysis of Epicurus’ critics to the three elements that support the polis , especially the Athenian polis, the paideia, the participation in the political life and the religion of the polis, it tries to prove that the philosopher constituted a different community from the civic one which identity signs where far away from those of the polis.

Este trabajo trata de demostrar que la vida de Epicuro estuvo influida por las vicisitudes políticas por las que atravesó la Atenas del período (341-267 a.C.) y, a través del análisis de la crítica de Epicuro a tres elementos esenciales que sustentaban la pólis , especialmente la ateniense: la paideia , la participación en la vida política y la religión poliada, intenta probar que el filósofo constituyó en realidad una comunidad distinta a la cívica, cuyas señas de identidad se apartaban de la pólis.
