Los inicios de César (Octavio) como jefe militar: el año 44, de Apolonia a Roma, según la obra ???? ????????, de Nicolás de Damasco

Abstract

After the Ides of March 44 BC Octavius goes to the political scene, at 19 years old. We follow the story of the ???? ???????? written byNicolaus of Damascus, witnessing the rise of the young Caesar, from hisstay in Apollonia (on March 44) until his departure for Rome at the end of the same year. For the first time it is put in command of a large private army. The story of Nicolaus is very close to the facts; and though as a whole it is a eulogy of young, completes the story of complicated Year 44 in the writings of Appian, Dio Cassius and the speeches and letters of Cicero.

Tras los idus de marzo del 44, C. Octavio sale a la escena política, a los 19 años de edad. Siguiendo el relato de la obra titulada ??o? ????????, escrita por Nicolás de Damasco, asistimos al ascenso del joven César, desde su estancia en Apolonia (en marzo del 44) hasta su marcha sobre Roma a finales de ese mismo año al frente ya de un gran ejército privado. El relato de Nicolás, muy cercano a los hechos, y que ensalza a modo de biografía panegírica la figura del joven, completa el relato del laberíntico año 44 descrito por Apiano, Casio Dión y los discursos y las cartas de Cicerón.
