Dos nuevos pedestales epigráficos de «colonia Avgvsta Firma Astigi» (Écija, Sevilla)

Abstract

In this paper are presented two new Roman pedestals with inscriptions, found in the archaeological excavations carried out in the central square of Écija (Seville), called “plaza de España”. Both of these pieces were located within the walled precinct of the imperial cult temple located in the southeast corner of the square. The pedestals can be characterized as a well-known model in this context. The first inscription refers to the erection of a sculpture by testamentary order of a personage called Caius Septumius, in the first half of the 2nd century A.D. In the second pedestal, datable between the middle of the 2nd century and the beginning of the 3rd century A.D., the text is in a poor state of preservation, and it is possible to read just the name with which the inscription begins, Titus Statilius Superatus Astigitanus.

En el presente trabajo se ofrece la edición de dos nuevos pedestales epigráficos de cronología romana aparecidos en la excavación arqueológica en extensión realizada en la Plaza de España de Écija (Sevilla). Las piezas fueron exhumadas en el interior del recinto del templo de culto imperial localizado en el ángulo sureste de la plaza, correspondiendo a un modelo bien conocido en este contexto. La primera inscripción se refiere a la erección de una estatua, por manda testamentaria, por parte de un personaje llamado Caius Septumius, en la primera mitad del s. II d. C. El segundo pedestal, fechable entre mediados del s. II y principios del III d. C., presenta un texto en un estado de conservación muy deficiente, por lo que apenas se puede leer más que el nombre con el que comienza la inscripción, Titus Statilius Superatus Astigitanus.
