Abstract

El desarrollo y expansión de las energías renovables es cada vez mayor. Sin embargo, es una realidad que, todavía, se está bastante lejos de un sistema energético no dependiente de los combustibles fósiles. ¿Cómo podría realizarse la transición hacia un sistema energético basado exclusivamente en energías renovables? y ¿qué consecuencias políticas, económicas, sociales y culturales se derivarían del mismo?, son algunas de las cuestiones principales sobre las que tratan los libros publicados por Jeremy Rifkin (Estados Unidos, 1943) La Tercera Revolución Industrial. Cómo el poder lateral está transformando la energía, la economía y el mundo y por Hermann Scheer (Alemania, 1944-2010) El imperativo energético, 100% ya: cómo hacer realidad el cambio integral hacia las energías renovables. Este artículo efectúa una panorámica por ambos libros donde los autores, muestran su visión de cómo debería ser el nuevo sistema energético renovable en el futuro y cómo llegar a él lo antes posible. Aunque parten de una opinión común, la necesidad urgente de un cambio de sistema energético, la lectura de ambas obras permite apreciar algunos matices diferenciales.

The development and spread of renewable energy is increasing. However, the reality is that, we are still quite far from a not dependent on fossil fuelsenergy system. How are we able to achieve a 100% renewable energy system? And what will be its social, political economic, cultural and ecological consequences? These are some of the main questions of the books: «The third Industrial Revolution:How the lateral power is transforming energy, the economy and the world» by Jeremy Rifkin (United States, 1943) and «Energy imperative, 100% Renewable Now» by Hermann Scheer (Germany, 1944-2010). This article makes a reviewof both books where the authors show their vision of what should be the new renewable energy system in the future, and how to get there. Although they have a commonpoint of view, the urgent need to change the energy system, the reading of these works allows us to appreciate some different nuances.
