Maquiavelo: pasión por la política y política de las pasiones

Abstract

Beyond prejudices of any kind, we can choose what we need of Machiavelli’s political thinking, for example the defence of the autonomy of politics and the rights of all citizens. Also, the attention paid to passion —the perennial human matter—, force that must be mouldedby politics and educated by the social organization in order to obtain the republican liberty.

Más allá de cualquier prejuicio, podemos escoger lo que necesitemos del pensamiento político de Maquiavelo, por ejemplo, la defensa de la autonomía de la política y de los derechos de todos los ciudadanos. Y también la atención prestada a las pasiones —la perenne materia humana—, cuya fuerza debe ser moldeada por la política y educada por la organización social para lograr la libertad republicana.
