El universo bloque: problemas y origen

Abstract

El universo bloque es una hipótesis que hoy día tiene una gran fuerza debido fundamentalmente a determinadas interpretaciones del espacio-tempo relativista y a algunos desarrollos de la mecánica cuántica que prescinden de la variable tiempo. Así mismo es posible llegar a este concepto desde enfoques filosóficos idealistas./nMi objetivo en este artículo es, en primer lugar, mostrar las enormes dificultades a las que deben hacer frente sus partidarios, al tiempo que presento algunas de las soluciones propuestas de un modo crítico. En segundo lugar, trataré de mostrar que los orígenes de esta hipótesis podrían estar basados en la tendencia que tiene el ser humano a tratar los conceptos que creamos de un modo realista y esencialista, en el sentido en el que tomamos las abstracciones que realizamos como la esencia de las cosas.

The block universe is an hypothesis that nowadays has a great strength, mainly due to certain relativist space-time interpretations as well as some developments of quantum mechanic’s that disregard the time variable. Likewise, it is possible to arrive to this concept from idealistic philosophical approaches./nMy goal with this paper is, first, to show the great difficulties that its defenders have to face, at the same time as I present some of the solutions proposed in a critical way. Second, I will try to show that this hypothesis’ origins could be based on the human being’s tendency to deal with the concepts we create in a realistic and essentialist way, in the sense that we take the abstractions that we make as the essence of things.
