In this study we have analyzed the opinion articles published in the «Civic Education» section of the Catholic magazine Vitral, of the Pinar del Río Civic-Religious Center, from September 2002 to January 2004, with the objective of determining their role in strengthening civil society in Cuba. As a methodological tool we chose content analysis, both quantitative and qualitative. Based on the results obtained from the quantification of the selected information, we proceed to the study of their content, within the context of Cuban reality. Prior to that, we establish a theoretical framework, in order to clarify the concept of civil society and its main characteristics in Cuba, as well as the role of the Church and lay Catholics in its promotion./n
En esta investigación se han analizado los artículos de opinión publicados en la sección «Educación Cívica» de la revista católica Vitral, del Centro Cívico-Religioso de Pinar del Río, durante el período comprendido entre septiembre de 2002 y enero de 2004, con el objetivo de determinar su papel en el fortalecimiento de la sociedad civil en Cuba. Como herramienta metodológica elegimos el análisis de contenido, tanto cuantitativo como cualitativo. Partiendo de los resultados aportados por la cuantificación de la información seleccionada, procedimos al estudio de su contenido, enmarcándolo en el contexto de la realidad cubana. Previamente elaboramos un marco teórico, a fin de aclarar el concepto de sociedad civil y las principales características de la cubana, así como el papel desempeñado por la Iglesia y los laicos católicos en el fomento de la misma.
