Memoria histórica y compromiso institucional: el Instituto Navarro de la Memoria

Abstract

Since 2015 the Government of Navarre has responded to the interest and demand of the society to face from the memory the traumatic past of our society. The memory of the violence suffered as a consequence of the military coup of 1936, in a territory such as Navarre, where there was no war front, has played a relevant role. In order to do that, inside the structure of the Directorate General for Peace, Coexistence and Human Rights the Institute of Memory of Navarre has been created the organization in charge of the recovery of the patrimony of memory, with its conservation and dissemination. In this article we explain the main ideas of the work of the Institute, that are assembled around different axis: exhumations, DNA bank, institutional tributes of recognition and reparation, Francoist symbology removal, memory places, the educational program «Schools with Memory» and the start up of a documentation centre about memory. All this with the collaboration of the families, local entities and memorialist associations, that has contributed to make real the right of memory for the victims and answer to the obligation of memory of a democratic society.

Desde 2015 el Gobierno de Navarra ha respondido al interés y la demanda de la sociedad para afrontar desde la memoria el pasado traumático de nuestra sociedad. En él juega un papel relevante la memoria de la violencia padecida como consecuencia del golpe militar de 1936 en un territorio, como Navarra, donde no hubo frente de guerra. Para ello, dentro de la estructura de la Dirección General de Paz, Convivencia y Derechos Humanos se ha creado el Instituto Navarro de la Memoria, que es el organismo encargado de la recuperación del patrimonio de memoria, de su conservación y de su difusión. En el artículo se exponen las líneas maestras de trabajo del Instituto, que se articulan en torno a varios ejes: exhumaciones y banco de ADN, homenajes institucionales de reconocimiento y reparación, retirada de simbología franquista, los lugares de memoria, el programa educativo «Escuelas con Memoria» y la puesta en marcha de un centro de documentación en torno a la memoria. Todo ello a través de la colaboración con familiares, entidades locales y asociaciones memorialistas, que ha contribuido a hacer realidad el derecho de memoria de las víctimas y responder al deber de memoria de una sociedad democrática./n
