La Imitatio Alexandri de Aníbal Barca

Abstract

The following paper seeks to analyze the linkage of Hannibal Barca with the figure of Alexander the Great. To achieve that objective, the Macedonian model will be stratified in several stages in which he could represent a model of excellence. Likewise, the possible Imitatio Alexandri will be tracked in specific scenarios and actions: the military actions, the classical sources, the propaganda, Gadir, Hannibal’s dream, the Heracles Epitrapezios, Hispania, the numismatic and the Hellenistic background.

El siguiente trabajo pretende analizar la vinculación de Aníbal Barca con la figura de Alejandro Magno. Para la consecución de dicho objetivo, el modelo del macedonio será estratificado en los diversos estadios en los que pueda representar un modelo de excelencia. Asimismo, la posible Imitatio Alexandri de Aníbal Barca será rastreada en escenarios y actuaciones concretas: la cuestión militar, la propaganda, las fuentes clásicas, Gadir, el sueño de Aníbal, el Heracles Epitrapezios, Hispania, la amonedación y el trasfondo helenístico.
