Caballo y poder las élites ecuestres en la Hispania indoeuropea

Abstract

This work is part of the doctoral thesis in preparation of the author devoted to the study of the aristocratic elite warriors and headquarters of the Indo-European Hispania. It is pretend to analyze the shape and symbolism of the horse as a social emblem for these elites, subject that have tried several authors. This study comes of the analysis of the sources, both literary archaeological and iconographic, after which it insists on the idea of how the right to own a horse was something reserved for the social elites and operated as an element of social status that differentiates this privileged group of the rest people, without underestimating the importance of other elements prestige as weapons.

Este trabajo forma parte de la tesis doctoral en proceso de elaboración del autor, dedicada al estudio de las jefaturas guerreras y elites aristocráticas de la Hispania Indoeuropea. Se pretende analizar la figura y simbología del caballo como emblema social para dichas elites; tema que ya han tratado varios investigadores. Este estudio parte del análisis de las fuentes, tanto las literarias como las arqueológicas e iconográficas, tras lo cual se incide en la idea de cómo el derecho a poseer un caballo era algo reservado a las elites sociales y que funcionaba como un elemento de estatus social que diferencia a este grupo privilegiado de la población, sin desestimar la importancia de otros elementos de prestigio como las armas./n
