On 6 December 1517, was celebrated in Naples the wedding between Sigismondo I, King of Poland and Bona Sforza, Duchess of Bari. Nothing was overlooked in the organization of the very sumptuous ceremony, starting from the scenic entry into the city of the noble lady and her imposing entourage: but what struck the imagination of those present was, above all, the grandiose wedding banquet, both for the unusual duration and for the choice of dishes, which surpassed any other banquet of the time in abundance and variety.
Il 6 dicembre 1517 si celebrarono a Napoli le nozze tra Sigismondo I Re di Polonia e Bona Sforza Duchessa di Bari. Nulla fu trascurato nell'organizzazione della sfarzosissima cerimonia, sin dalla scenografica entrata in città della nobile dama e del suo imponente seguito: ma a colpire la fantasia dei presenti fu soprattutto il grandioso banchetto nuziale, sia per la durata inusitata che per la scelta delle pietanze imbandite, che superarono per abbondanza e varietà qualunque altro banchetto dell'epoca.
