Corografías de la memoria

Abstract

At the beginning of the 17th century licenciado Francisco de Cascales wrote and published the Discursos históricos, a chorography that compiles the services and privileges of the city of Murcia and its most prominent lineages. Among them were the Guzmán and Junterón, whose trajectories are reconstructed in this article to present a wide analysis of the history production during the Early Modern Period and in recent years. The contrast of the information contained in the iconic Cascales' work with other historical sources that are currently part of municipal, regional and state documentary collections allows for two reflections. The first one is on the use of these first local histories to adjust the weight of collective memory and facilitate the immobilization of identities and social status. The second one is on the integration of the local in a historiography marked by global perspectives, a scale sickness that refers to a historical discourse based on the centralization and marginalization of spaces, subjects and also archives.

A principios del siglo XVII el licenciado Francisco de Cascales escribió y publicó los Discursos históricos, una corografía que registra los servicios y privilegios de la ciudad de Murcia y sus linajes más destacados. Entre ellos se encontraban los Guzmán y los Junterón, cuyas trayectorias reconstruimos en este artículo para plantear un análisis amplio sobre la fabricación de la historia durante la Edad Moderna y en los últimos años. El contraste de las informaciones contenidas en la obra icónica de Cascales con otras fuentes históricas que forman parte actualmente de fondos documentales municipales, regionales y estatales permite dos reflexiones. La primera sobre el uso de estas primeras historias locales para graduar el peso de la memoria colectiva y facilitar la inmovilización de las identidades y los estatus sociales. La segunda sobre la integración de lo local en una historiografía marcada por las perspectivas globales, un mal de escalas que evoca un discurso histórico basado en la centralización y marginalización de espacios, sujetos y también archivos.
