20 años de Evolución en la Representación Política de las Mujeres Latinoamericanas

Abstract

[ES]En este artículo se analiza la evolución de la representación política de las mujeres latinoamericanas entre los años 2000 y 2020, según sus porcentajes de participación en alcaldías, concejos municipales, cortes supremas de justicia y parlamentos de 19 países de la región. Se examinan cifras compiladas en el Observatorio de Género de la Comisión Económica para América Latina y el Caribe (CEPAL), mediante la técnica de análisis multivariante X-STATIS, para concluir que, la heterogeneidad existente entre naciones, refleja la necesidad de continuar fomentando la igualdad de género en la toma de decisiones políticas en la región.

[EN]This article analyzes the evolution of the political leadership of the Latin American women between the years 2000 and 2020, according to their percentages of participation in mayors, municipal councils, supreme courts of justice and parliaments from 19 countries in the region. The analysis is done by using data compiled in the Gender Observatory of the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC), by means of the multivariate technique X-STATIS, to conclude that, the existing heterogeneity between nations reflects the need to continue promoting gender equality in political decision-making in the region.
