Un cancionero español a modo de collage en Estados Unidos. Procedencias y adaptaciones del repertorio para aprender la lengua española

Abstract

[Es] Nueva York asiste, durante el primer cuarto del siglo XX, al surgimiento de numerosas manifestaciones que muestran el interés del mundo académico y filantrópico por la cultura española. Varias instituciones colaboran en recopilar, conservar y difundir el patrimonio español, incluido el musical. En este artículo nos centraremos en algunos cancioneros de música popular que se editaron en Nueva York y ciudades cercanas entre 1900 y 1925. En torno a ellos, destacaremos dos ideas. En primer lugar, la presencia en estos volúmenes de música popular española (parcial o monográficamente) puede ser vista como un cancionero a modo de collage, repartido por varios recopilatorios; por otro lado, esta música se utilizaba como herramienta didáctica para el aprendizaje del español, y fue el objeto del interés y edición por parte de varias mujeres dedicadas a la docencia. [En] New York is attending, during the first third of the 20th Century, the emergence of numerous demonstrations that show the interest of academia and philanthropists in Spanish culture. Several institutions collaborate to collect, preserve and disseminate Spanish heritage, including music. In this article we will focus on some songbooks that were released in New York and nearby cities between 1900 and 1925. Around them, we want to highliht two ideas. Firstly, the presence on these books of Spanish popular music (partially or monographically) can be seen as a songbook in the way of a collage, spread over several compilations. Secondly, this music was considered a teaching tool for learning Spanish, and was the object of interest and editing by several women engaged in teaching.
