Malestares en la cultura contemporánea. Sobre tres ensayos de reciente aparición en el ámbito hispanohablante

Abstract

[ES] Tras la pandemia de la covid-19, han aparecido en el contexto hispanohablante tres ensayos que abordan la eclosión de problemas de salud mental en el presente: Frágiles (2021), de Remedios Zafra, Malestamos (2022), de Javier Padilla y Marta Carmona, y El murmullo (2023), de Belén Gopegui. A pesar de la disparidad disciplinar y metodológica de sus autores, sus similitudes son significativas; ante todo, contemplan estos «malestares» atendiendo a sus desencadenantes estructurales. Por un lado, plantean este sufrimiento distintivo de nuestra época como vinculado a las narrativas neoliberales de vida y como una «disfuncionalidad funcional» de las lógicas productivas del capitalismo contemporáneo. Por otro, ofrecen razones para la esperanza, que pasan todas ellas por la búsqueda en colectivo de las condiciones y posibilidades de transformación del presente. [EN] Following the covid-19 pandemic, three essays that address the current emergence of mental health problems have been published in the Spanish-speaking context: Frágiles (2021), by Remedios Zafra, Malestamos (2022), by Javier Padilla and Marta Carmona, and El murmullo (2023), by Belén Gopegui. Despite the disciplinary and methodological disparity of their authors, their similarities are meaningful; first and foremost, they consider these «uneasiness» regarding their structural triggers. On the one hand, they see this distinctive suffering of our time as linked to neoliberal narratives of life and as a «functional dysfunctionality» of the productive logics of contemporary capitalism. On the other hand, they offer reasons for hope, all of which involve a collective search for the conditions and possibilities of transforming the present.
