Dos apuntes a propósito del «giro hacia la felicidad»: de la crítica del neoliberalismo al «giro afectivo»

Abstract

[ES] El propósito es abordar, a partir de una perspectiva doblemente crítica, el actual “giro hacia la felicidad”, vale decir, la elevación del imperativo de la felicidad a la categoría de horizonte político y ético incuestionable que ha protagonizado el surgimiento de la psicología positiva a comienzos del siglo XXI y que hoy desborda la literatura académica e invade un número creciente de prácticas de la vida cotidiana. Ello supondrá, por un lado, entender esta versión actual del llamado “pensamiento positivo” como una narrativa sancionadora del orden económico neoliberal, fundamentalmente a través de la promoción de un nuevo “éthos psicoterapéutico”. Y, por otro, desde la corriente anglosajona del “giro afectivo”, implicará analizar en qué medida los discursos sobre la felicidad en general, y en particular la “nueva ciencia de la felicidad”, legitiman una serie de modos de vida por encima de otros y refrendan estructuras de poder preexistentes. [EN] The aim is to address, from a doubly critical perspective, the «happiness turn», i.e., the elevation of happiness to the status of an undeniable political and ethical horizon that arose with the emergence of positive psychology in the beginning of the twenty-first century and that today prevails in an increasing number of social practices. On the one hand, that will entail showing that the subjectivity archetype implied in this version of the so-called «positive thought» coincides with individualization processes that are linked to recent transformations of the neoliberal paradigm of production. And, on the other hand, from the perspective of one of the research lines that constitute the «affective turn», it will involve proving how discourses on happiness in general, and the «new science of happiness» in particular, endorse certain ways of life above others, reinforcing preexisting power structures.
