dc.description.abstract[EN]In this prospective, multicenter, randomized study of 137 patients with ICDs, the programming of antitachycardia pacing therapy (ATP) consisting of a burst of 5 pulses at 84% of the tachycardia cycle length (CL) reduced by 84% the incidence of shocks to treat fast ventricular tachycardias (FVT), defined by a CL between 240-310 ms. The strategy based on ATP programming was associated with a reduction in episode duration (9.3 s ± 8.4 vs 14.8 ± 4.6 s; p<0.05) and the incidence of syncope/near-syncope due to FVT (3.7% vs. 54%; p<0.001). Beta- blocker therapy was associated with an increased ATP efficacy.
