Fragilidad, estabilidad, economía visual y abstracción pictórica como opción para un final de siglo

Abstract

[ES]Estudio sobre el trabajo pictórico de una serie de artistas, mayoritariamente europeos, en las dos últimas décadas del siglo XX. En esta selección se reconoce y describe un comportamiento de respuesta, tanto a la corriente artística imperante que les afecta, como al tránsito al siglo XXI después de un siglo plagado de ismos que acaba. Por medio del análisis de sus obras, desde diferentes criterios, se obtienen unas conclusiones que permiten pensar que los autores seleccionados adoptan una actitud de retirada, optan por un trabajo reflexivo y atemporal, alejado de la prisa imperante y de las reglas del mercado impuestas. Para ello utilizan herramientas extraídas del mundo de la abstracción pictórica alrededor de la contención, la fragilidad, la geometría y la futilidad como medio de expresión, y única posibilidad para la construcción de la imagen. Dicha actitud es individual y autónoma. No hay indicios ni voluntad de establecer un género ni un movimiento. Sus trabajos mantienen un pulso con la Historia del arte, mostrando ciertas deudas con las vanguardias experimentales del siglo XX.

[EN]A study of the pictorial work of a series of european artists in the last two decades of the 20th century, in which we recognize and describe their behavior in response both to the prevailing artistic trend that affects them and to the transition to the 21st century after a century filled by isms that is coming to an end. Through the analysis of their work using different criteria, conclusions are drawn that allow us to think that the selected authors adopt an attitude of withdrawal, opting for a reflexive and timeless work, far removed from the prevailing haste and the rules imposed by the market. To do so, they use concepts coming from the world of abstract painting that embrace containment, fragility, geometry and futility as a mean of expression, and the only possibilities for the construction of an image. This attitude is individual and autonomous. There are no indicies or desires to establish a genre or a movement. Their works stay in touch with the history of art, showing certain links with the experimental avant-gardes of the 20th century.
