Representaciones de África en algunas autoras oesteafricanas del siglo XXI

Abstract

This article examines the representation of some West African countries in the literary production of four francophone women writers; these authors have been born in Senegal or Mali and have lived temporarily or permanently in Europe. The spatial distance from their mother countries, as well as the discovery of new realities, allow them to value or reject certain African and European phenomena and peculiarities. The identity of these cosmopolitan citizens is conformed as they become familiar with the cultures and customs of other peoples, and this process involves both the acceptance and refusal of the encountered personalities. The observation of the new circumstances and ways of life, together with the acquisition of knowledge, allow them to reclaim more individual rights, from fields as varied as the associative, political or literary writing.

Este artículo tiene como objetivo principal analizar las representaciones de algunos países de África occidental en la producción literaria de cuatro autoras francófonas originarias de Mali o Senegal que han residido en Europa durante algún tiempo o se han asentado definitivamente en ese continente. La distancia geográfica y el descubrimiento de nuevas realidades les permite valorar o juzgar negativamente determinados fenómenos y particularidades africanos y europeos. La identidad de estas ciudadanas cosmopolitas se conforma a medida que se familiarizan con las culturas y costumbres de los diversos pueblos, rechazando algunas de estas últimas y mostrándose abiertas a otras. La observación de nuevas circunstancias y modos de vida, junto a la adquisición de conocimientos les permite reivindicar con más criterio aquellos derechos que por justicia corresponden a los individuos, desde ámbitos tan variados como el asociativo, el político o la escritura literaria.
