Los racioneros de la catedral de Murcia y la transmisión de su patrimonio a sus familiares en la primera mitad del siglo XVIII

Abstract

This paper aims to analyze how the prebendaries of the Murcia cathedral transmitted their properties to their relatives. The hypothesis is that the ecclesiastics acted in this way in response to the obligations imposed on them by kinship. Wills will be the used source and they will be classified according to the degree of benefit that the prebendaries gave to their relatives. Likewise, the ways used by the prebendaries to favor them will be studied, paying special attention to the appointment of universal heirs, to legacies and commands and to the founding of entailed estates. It will be seen that the racioneros tried to help the most unprotected family lines. For this reason, the main beneficiaries will be women, especially nieces and sisters.

En este trabajo se pretende analizar cómo los racioneros de la catedral de Murcia transmitieron su patrimonio a sus familiares, partiendo de la hipótesis de que los eclesiásticos actuaron de este modo en respuesta a las obligaciones que les imponía el parentesco. Los testamentos van a ser la fuente utilizada y se procederá a clasificarlos en función del grado del beneficio que hicieron a sus parientes. Asimismo, se estudiarán las formas empleadas por los prebendados para favorecerlos, prestando especial atención al nombramiento de herederos universales, a los legados y mandas y a la fundación de vínculos y mayorazgos. Se verá que los racioneros trataron de ayudar a las líneas familiares más desprotegidas. Por esta razón, las principales beneficiarias serán las mujeres, en especial, las sobrinas y las hermanas.
