Entre el Self-fashioning y la Herencia Familiar: la Masculinidad Hegemónica en la Identidad de los Gutiérrez de los Ríos

Abstract

The aim of this study is to analyze the identity that the Gutiérrez de los Ríos family shaped and passed on throughout the 18th and 19th centuries. F Framed in the context of the construction of the image, it was a personal and dynastic fabrication that was passed down from generation to generation. Constructed by the III Count of Fernán Núñez in his The Practical Man, this self-confection would coincide with hegemonic masculinity and would adapt to the transformations of the civilization process. Thus, moving from family traditions to individual concerns, these masculine figures would embody the military profile, the enlightened honnête homme, the hombre práctico, or the liberal man.

En este estudio se pretende analizar la identidad que los Gutiérrez de los Ríos plasmaron y traspasaron a lo largo de los siglos XVIII y XIX. Enmarcada en el contexto de la construcción de la imagen, se trataba de una fabricación personal y dinástica que se legaron de generación en generación. Forjada por el III Conde de Fernán Núñez en El Hombre Práctico, esta autoconfección coincidiría con la masculinidad hegemónica y se adaptaría a las transformaciones del proceso de civilización. Por tanto, pasando de las tradiciones familiares a las inquietudes individuales, estas figuras masculinas encarnarán al perfil militar, al ilustrado hombre de bien, al mismísimo hombre práctico o al hombre liberal.
