De las fuentes escritas a las técnicas de teledetección

Abstract

In the Esla basin (provinces of León and Zamora), the absence of material evidence of the Roman army contrasts with the development of some episodes of warfare highlighted by classical authors. Several military fortifications located with remote sensing techniques that may represent a meeting point between both sources are analysed in this paper. We describe the methodology used and present the evidence observed, ascribing them to the Late Republican/Early Imperial period. Some hypotheses are then put forward about their insertion in the different possible historical contexts, paying special attention to the Villacete fortification because of its possible relationship with an event highlighted by the Greco-Latin texts: the capture of the city of Lancia.

En la cuenca del Esla (provincias de León y Zamora) contrasta la ausencia de evidencias materiales del ejército romano con el desarrollo de algunos episodios bélicos destacados por los autores clásicos. En este artículo analizamos una serie de recintos militares localizados con técnicas de teledetección que pueden representar un punto de encuentro entre ambas fuentes. Se describe la metodología seguida y se presentan las evidencias observadas, adscribiéndolas al período tardorrepublicano/altoimperial. A continuación, se plantean algunas hipótesis sobre su inserción en los distintos contextos históricos posibles, atendiendo especialmente al recinto de Villacete por su posible relación con un evento destacado por los textos grecolatinos: la toma de la ciudad de Lancia.
