Planos Vara de Jacob

Abstract

[ES]Este documento representa los anexos de un proyecto de innovación docente que lleva por título “Incorporación de la Vara de Jacob en clases prácticas como herramienta introductoria al estudio cuantitativo y cooperativo en ciencias geológicas” presentado en la Universidad de Salamanca en el curso 2024‐2025, siendo el coordinador de proyecto David Domínguez Villar del Área de Estratigrafía del Departamento de Geología. La Vara de Jacob es un instrumento utilizado en Geología para medir el espesor de secciones estratigráficas. En este documento se presentan los planos (2 láminas) y unas instrucciones de montaje (1 lámina con instrucciones gráficas y dos páginas de texto explicando detalles del montaje). Este documento pretende difundir los planos del diseño de una Vara de Jacob que ha resultado de una actividad pedagógica exitosa y que puede trasladarse a otras universidades. El diseño de esta Vara de Jacob es igualmente válido para aplicaciones de investigación. Por lo tanto, se pretende fomentar este diseño en acceso abierto a cualquier científico, estudiante o aficionado que tenga interés en fabricase su propia Vara de Jacob. [EN]This document contains the annexes of the educational innovation project entitled “Implementation of Jacob’s staff in practical classes as an introductory tool to the quantitative and cooperative study in geological Sciences” presented at the University of Salamanca (Spain) during the course 2024‐2025 and coordinated by Dr. David Domínguez‐Villar from the Stratigraphy Division of the Department of Geology. The Jacob’s staff is an instrument used in geology to measure the thickness of stratigraphical sections. This document contains the blueprints (2 sheets) and the mounting instructions (1 sheet with the graphical instructions and 2 pages with the mounting details in Spanish). This document is intended to divulgate the blueprints of the design of a Jacob’s staff resulting from a successful pedagogic activity that could be implemented in other universi����es. The design of this Jacob’s staff is equally valid for scientific applications. Therefore, this open access document is intended to disseminate the instrument design among scientists, students and geology enthusiasts with interest to manufacture his/her own Jacob’s staff.
