Response of diatom and coccolithophore populations to the onset of a marine heat wave during the POWELL-2020 campaign [Dataset]

Abstract

[EN]Diatom, coccolithophores and key environmental parameters were analyzed during January and early February 2020 at the Drake Passage and Antarctic Peninsula onboard of the research vessel Hespérides. In these data sets we present the results on the temporal variability of diatom and coccolithophore abundance, species composition and variability of key environmental parameters (sea surface temperature, nutrients, …) before and during the onset of an Antarctic marine heat wave. A detailed description of the field experiment, sample processing and counting methods can be found in Rigual-Hernández et al. (2025; Biogeosciences).
