El concepto de "physis" en Platón: entre los pluralistas y Aristóteles

Abstract

[ES] El concepto de physis y sus derivados aparecen cientos de veces en los diálogos de Platón. Dado el carácter poco sistemático de su autor y los muchos años que dedicó a la escritura filosófica, no debe sorprender la diversidad de sentidos en que emplea un término ya de por sí complejo y polisémico. Por otra parte, Platón recoge, sintetiza y reelabora algunas de las concepciones fundamentales de la physis, siendo de especial relevancia las de los filósofos pluralistas, interesándose por los elementos constitutivos del mundo físico y tomando partido en la discusión en torno a su carácter, bien mecánico, bien teleológico. En este estudio se analiza tanto la asimilación platónica de la física presocrática, como la influencia ejercida en el planteamiento aristotélico, especialmente por lo que respecta a la causalidad final y al principio del movimiento. [EN] The concept of physis and its derivatives appear hundreds of times in Plato’s dialogues. Given the unsystematic method of the author and the many years he devoted to philosophical writing, the variety of meanings attached to this complex and polysemic word will not come as a surprise. Moreover, Plato recaps, synthetises and reworks some of the fundamental conceptions on nature, especially those from pluralist philosophers. He showed an interest in the constitutive elements of the physical world and took part in the discussion on mechanism and teleology.This paper analyses both the Platonic assimilation of pre-Socratic physics and the influence exerted on the Aristotelian approach, mainly regarding the final causality and the principle of motion.
