Resumen
[EN] This study explores the diverse interpretations offered by Portuguese authors concerning the Recovery of Salvador (1625), an event traditionally seen as precursor to the 1640 rupture between the two Iberian kingdoms. Although the armies of Portugal and Spain jointly achieved one of the most significant victories of the Catholic King, major disagreements arose between the military commanders during the campaign. Nevertheless, this article demonstrates that there was no unified Portuguese perspective on the events in Bahia, rather there were different Portuguese interpretations of this episode, challenging the traditional nationalist narratives.
