«Columnae» en Horacio y en Jaime Siles: la excelencia del «poeta doctus»

Abstract

Resumen: Este estudio se centra monográficamente en el término latino columnae y en el uso que hacen de él los poetas Horacio (Ars Poetica) y Jaime Siles (en el libro Columnae). La tradición clásica esclarece mutuamente el símbolo en ambas obras, propiciando en Horacio una lectura metafórica, frente a las habituales interpretaciones metonímicas, y mostrando en Siles la columna como símbolo de excelencia, fundado en la relación etimológica latina e indoeuropea, a la que se otorga el máximo rango lingüístico y poetológico.

Abstract: This study focuses monographically on the Latin term columnae and the use made of it by the poets Horace (Ars Poetica) and Jaime Siles (in the book Columnae). The classical tradition mutually clarifies the symbol in both works, favouring in Horace a metaphorical reading, as opposed to the usual metonymic interpretations, and showing in Siles the column as a symbol of excellence, founded on the Latin and Indo-European etymological relationship, which is given the highest linguistic and poeotological rank.
