| dc.description.abstract | [EN]Cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma (CSCC) is the second most frequent cancer in humans. During the last decade, several attempts for improving risk stratification of this tumour have been incorporated. The Brigham and Women's Hospital (BWH) staging system has become a standard for many dermatologists. In 2017, the eighth- edition of the American Joint Committee on Cancer (AJCC) staging system incorporated some changes which improved its performance compared to the 7th- edition. A recent comprehensive meta- analysis collected all the risk factors (RF) identified to date in CSCC and demonstrated that eighth RF exhibit the greatest prognostic impact (tumour size, invasion beyond the subcutaneous fat, immunosuppression, lymphovascular invasion (LVI), perineural invasion, desmoplasia, tumour budding and poor degree of differentiation). We aimed to compare the performance of a classification system derived from all 8RF identified in this meta- analysis4 with the most popular staging systems (BWH and AJCC) in a retrospective cohort study of 697 patients with 778 CSCC patients and to explore how the accumulation of RF impacts in prognosis | es_ES |
