La chronologie des archives de Narmouthis

Abstract

In 1939 Achille Vogliano pointed out in a communication of the Antiquities Service that the ostraca found in the Narmuthis temple complex could be dated to the period between Hadrian and Commodus. Even though some Narmuthis ostraca make allusion to a regnal year, in most texts the name of the emperor is not explicitly mentioned and several dating possibilities should be considered. In this article, all the published texts containing dating elements have been gathered in order to determine, as accurately as possible, the period of configuration of the Narmuthis archive.
