Da Omero a Madeline Miller: la reinterpretazione di Circe nel corso della storia.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the figure of Circe, a sorceress with extraordinary powers and a demigoddess of seductive allure, over a time span ranging from Antiquity to the 21st century. Through a historical overview and the analysis of selected works, it will highlight the mythological and literary evolution of the character, starting from the famous episode of her encounter with Odysseus in Book X of Homer’s Odyssey and culminating in Madeline Miller’s profoundly feminist novel.
