La Ecloga Theoduli en el impreso de Centenera de 1492: Transcripción crítica y traducción

Abstract

[ES]La Ecloga Theoduli es un poema bucólico de 344 versos datado en el siglo ix cuyo fin es demostrar la superioridad del dogma cristiano frente a la superstición pagana a través de las intervenciones de dos pastores: Alithia (muchacha cristiana) y Pseustis (hombre pagano), mediados por Frónesis. Esta égloga de carácter alegórico fue estampada en 1492 por Antón de Centenera en Zamora, siendo éste el único testimonio impreso de la obra realizado en territorio hispánico. En esta contribución se presenta, por vez primera, una transcripción crítica del texto ofrecido por dicho incunable y una traducción del mismo, tratándose de la primera traducción completa al castellano de esta obra, una de las más relevantes de la poesía mediolatina.

[EN]The Ecloga Theoduli is a bucolic poem of 344 verses dating from the ninth century whose purpose is to demonstrate the superiority of Christian dogma against pagan superstition through the intervention of two pastors: Alithia (Christian girl) and Pseustis (pagan boy), mediated by Fronesis. This allegorical eclogue was print in 1492 by Anton de Centenera in Zamora, being the only printed testimony of the work done in the Hispanic territory. This paper presents, for the first time, a critical transcription of the text provided by such incunable and its translation, being the first complete translation into Spanish of this work, one of the most important of medieval Latin poetry.
