Nuevos fragmentos específicos de Pelomedúsidos lutecienses del Valle del Duero

Abstract

Se describen en este trabajo cinco fragmentos de quelonios, que pese a su fragmentación pueden considerarse específicos. Los tres citados en primer lugar, procedentes del yacimiento del Teso de la Flecha, cercano a Salamanca, pueden por sus características ser clasificados con seguridad como de Stereogenys salmanticensis Jim. El primero y el tercero corresponden a individuos jóvenes, deduciéndose este hecho de las relaciones óseo-dérmicas del entoplastron. No ofrece las mismas seguridades el cuarto ejemplar descrito, recogido en Corrales (Zamora), aunque por semejanza lo hemos encuadrado dentro de la misma especie. el quinto, consistente en un entoplastron completo, responde a unas características que lo diferencian de los otros Pelomedusidae del Valle del Duero: "Stereogenys salmenticenses" y "Pedocnemis carbajosai". Dado su tamaño, menor que el de los demás Pelomedusidae fósiles y más cercano al de los vivientes y sus relaciones óseo-démicas, se ha denominado a esta nueva especie con el nombre de "Podocnemis entodermica".

Five fragments of chelonians are described in this work, which, in spite of its fragmentation, can be considered specific. The three ones firs place mentioned, coming from the Teso of the Flecha's deposit, near to Salamanca, can be certainly classificated by its characteristics as the Stereogenys salmanticensis Jim. the first and the third ones correspond to young persons, this fact is deduced of the relations bone-dermic of the entoplastron. The fouth described exemplar does not offter the same securities, it is picked at Corrales (Zamora), although by similarity we have placed it into the same family. The fifth one, wich consists of a complete entoplastron, has characteristics the differentiate it from the other Pelumedusidae of the Duero Valley: Stereogenys salmanticensis and Podocnemis carbajosai. Because of its size, smallet than of the rest of the Pelomedusidae fossils and closer to that of the living ones, and its bone-dermic relations, this new family has been referred to with the name of Podocnemis entodermica.
