James E. Carter: Compromiso de un presidente con los derechos humanos

Abstract

Este trabajo es un estudio documentado y crítico de una etapa presidencial norteamericana, comprometida seriamente con la defensa de la libertad yla igualdad de todos los seres humanos.Se analizan las etapas históricas de la nación americana, desde los PadresFundadores hasta nuestros días, centrándose en los años de la presidencia de James E. Carter argumentando el compromiso de este presidente de los Estados Unidos con los Derechos Humanos, considerados no sólo baluarte de su acción política sino también de su vida. La demostración de esta afirmación se encuentra fundamentalmente en la política exterior de esta etapa en todo el mundo: Oriente Medio, los continentes de África y Asia, Europa y Latinoamérica. Se considera la proyección de J. Carter sobre los Derechos Humanos en el periodo posterior a su presidencia, examinando los principios rectores del Centro que lleva su nombre.

This work is a documented and critic study of an American presidency which was seriously committed with the defense of freedom and equality of all the human beings. The historic stages of an American nation, from the Founding Fathers till nowadays are analized, although it is focussed on the years of the Carter Administration, pointing out the commitment of this American President with the Human Rights, that constituted not only the bastion of his policy but also of his life. The demonstration of this statement is mainly found in the foreign policy programme of this Administration all over the world: the Middle East, Africa, Asia, Europe and Latin America. This Human Rights concern is also projected and studied after his Administration with the analysis of the principles that guided the Carter Center.
