Una pobre contribución de la escala fingirse enfermo (FBS) a la adaptación española del MMPI-2

Abstract

Esta investigación analiza la contribución que puede aportar la escala Fingirse enfermo (Fake Bad Scale; FBS) de Lees-Haley, English & Glenn, (1991) al MMPI-2 en su adaptación española. Este estudio se realizó con una muestra total de 1.845 sujetos, comparando los resultados de aquellos sujetos que contestaron sinceramente a la prueba (n = 1.100), considerados como grupo control, con otros grupos a los que se adiestraron para que manipularan sus respuestas (buena imagen - mala imagen), considerados como grupo experimental (n = 545). Al mismo tiempo se escogió una muestra (n = 200) que respondieron al cuestionario de una forma inconsistente, sin tener en cuenta la información contenida en los ítems del MMPI-2. Los resultados muestran una baja consistencia de los ítems de la escala FBS y una insuficiente sensibilidad, especificidad y poder predictivo para detectar a los sujetos supuestamente enfermos.

This investigation analyzes the contribution of the Fake Bad Scale (FBS) by Lees-Haley, English and Glenn (1991) to the MMPI-2 in its Spanish adaptation. This study was carried out with a total sample of 1,845 subjects, comparing the results of those subjects that answered sincerely to the test (n= 1,100), considered as the control group, with other groups which were trained to manipulate their answers (good image - bad image), considered as the experimental group (n = 545). At the same time a sample was chosen (n = 200) which responded to the questionnaire in an inconsistent way, without keeping in mind the information contained in the items of the MMPI-2. The results show a low consistency of the items corresponding to the FBS scale and a insufficient sensibility, specificity and value predictive to detect the supposedly sick subjects.
