Resumen
In this review we analyze shot-noise suppression and enhancement in homogeneous semiconductor structures in the presence of space charge under different transport regimes. The case of ballistic transport, both for nondegenerate and degenerate injection, will be initially analyzed. We will after include the presence of scattering (both elastic and inelastic) to study the crossover from ballistic to diffusive regime. The diffusive regime with several energy dependences of the scattering time will be subsequently investigated.in all the previous regimes, mainly shot-noise suppression of different intensity is found. To finish, we will address a regime where an increase of th noise is predicted, even reaching enhanced shot noise: quasiballistic transport in the presence of electron traps.
