Tierras de penumbra/ Shadowlands (1993): el duelo como proceso de la vida, enfermedad y muerte

Abstract

[ES] El duelo, reacción adaptativa normal ante la pérdida de un ser querido, es un acontecimiento vital estresante de primera magnitud. La muerte del cónyuge, es quizás la situación más estresante por la que puede pasar una persona. Tierras de penumbra muestra la vida del escritor irlandés C.S. Lewis y su relación con la poetisa norteamericana Helen Joy Davidman hasta el fallecimiento de ésta por un cáncer óseo. A través de preciosas imágenes ofrece una sugestiva mirada al dolor que comporta la entrega al amor.

[EN] Grief, which is a normal reaction to the loss of a loved one, is a stressing life event of first order. The death of one’s spouse is perhaps the most stressing situation that a person has to go through in their life. Shadowlands portrays the life of the Irish writer C.S.Lewis and his relationship with the American poet Helen Joy Davidman until she died of bone cancer. Through marvellous imagery we are offered a thought-provoking view of the pain that accompanies loving another.
