Teoría de la sensibilidad, Teoría de las humanidades. El proyecto filosófico de la Estética en A. G. Baumgarten

Abstract

[ES] En este trabajo se abordan el origen y concepción de la Estética de A. G. Baumgarten como proyecto filosófico dentro del contexto histórico de la cultura alemana de la primera mitad del siglo XVIII. Con este fin, se presenta, por un lado, la Estética como la respuesta común a las necesidades epistemológicas planteadas en la época por dos tradiciones distintas: la exigencia filosófico-racionalista de una «teoría de la sensibilidad» paralela a la «lógica del entendimiento», y la necesidad retórico-poética de una «lógica del pensamiento ingenioso» o de una «poética filosófica» alternativa a la gnoseología científico-matemática del discurso racionalista moderno. Sobre el trasfondo de esta doble raíz histórico-cultural, se analizan, por otro lado, las dos concepciones fundamentales de la Estética: como gnoseología de la sensibilidad y como «teoría general de las artes liberales» o Humanidades, y se sugieren algunos de los problemas y limitaciones ligadas a ambas, así como a la complejidad de la idea de ciencia filosófica proyectada por Baumgarten.

[EN] This work deals with the origin and conception of A. Baumgarten’s Aesthetics as a philosophical project within the historical context of German culture in the first half of the eighteenth century. To this end, we present, on the one hand, Aesthetics as the common response to the epistemological needs posed at the time by two different traditions: the philosophical-rationalist demand for a «theory of sensibility», parallel to the «logic of understanding» and the rhetorical-poetic need for a «logic of ingenious thought» or for a «philosophical poetics», as an alternative to the scientific-mathematical gnosiology of modern rationalist discourse. On the other hand, against the backdrop of this double historical-cultural root, we analyse the two fundamental conceptions of aesthetics: as the gnosiology of sensibility and as a «general theory of the liberal arts» or humanities, and we suggest some of the problems and limitations linked to both and to the complexity of Baumgarten’s idea of philosophical science.
