Referencias al contrabando en los informes de los «oidores» de la Real Audiencia de Extremadura

Abstract

[ES] En este artículo se recogen y se comentan las principales referencias sobre el contrabando tradicional en la frontera de España y Portugal, contenidas en los informes de los «oidores» (1791) y en otras disposiciones de la Real Audiencia de Extremadura. Además de resaltar la importancia que tuvo la instauración de la Real Audiencia de Extremadura en el proceso de consolidación de la Administración central en la región, ponemos de manifiesto el enorme interés de la autoridad real por conocer, para erradicar, los tráficos ilegales; siendo la recién estrenada —Real Audiencia—, un instrumento fundamental para implementar esa política de represión del contrabando en la frontera de Portugal, a finales del siglo XVIII.

[EN] In this article the main references on the traditional smuggling in the border between Spain and Portugal, contained in the reports the «oidores» (1791) and in other regulations of the Royal Court of Extremadura are gathered and commented. Besides highlighting the great importance that the establishment of the Royal Court of Extremadura had in the process of consolidation of the state administration in the region, we point out the enormous interest of the Royal Authority in knowing the illegal trafficking to eradicate it. In this sense, the new Royal Court was a fundamental instrument to implement this policy of smuggling repression in the border at the end of 18th century.
