dc.description.abstract[EN] It is argued here that German philosopher Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz, passed away in 1716, and, specially, that his work Teodicea, could be considered amongst the victims of the Lisbon earthquake of 1755. The persistence of the Leibniz’s thought in the answers given by the philosophers of the 18th Century to the tragic event is also emphasized. Voltaire and Rousseau’s reactions to the damage caused by the earthquake had been anticipated in Teodicea and the scientific way followed by Kant had been initiated in Protogaea.es_ES
