Historia de la familia y campesinado en la España moderna. Una reflexión desde la historia social

Abstract

[ES] Después de hacer una serie de consideraciones de carácter general, con este artículo se pretende reflexionar sobre cómo la Historia de la Familia se ha desarrollado en España durante las dos últimas décadas a la luz de los trabajos que se han centrado en el mundo rural y campesino del Antiguo Régimen. Tras efectuar un somero balance de lo realizado, la impresión que se obtiene es que, a pesar de su proliferación, todavía no se ha alcanzado una adecuada distribución geográfica y cronológica de dichos estudios y que se ha avanzado poco en tratar de comprender y explicar los procesos de reproducción social y los mecanismos de diferenciación y de desigualdad desplegados por los distintos grupos campesinos. Sin embargo, después del esfuerzo realizado, esta situación afortunadamente está cambiando y, en la actualidad, el interés de los investigadores va más allá de la familia al preocuparse no tan sólo por su mundo interior sino por todo el entramado de relaciones en el que aquélla se insertaba. De hecho, la tendencia cada vez más fuerte de plantear las investigaciones en términos de vínculos sociales y de red de relaciones abre nuevas perspectivas para el futuro.

[EN] After making some preliminary and general considerations, this article attempts to throw some light on how the History of the Family has been developed in Spain throughout the last two decades, paying attention to the research centered upon the rural and peasant world under the Ancien Regime. After having a quick balancing glance at what has been carried out so far in this field, the impression one has is that, in spite of their proliferation, we have not yet reached an adequate geographic and chronological distribution of these studies, and that there has not been much advance in trying to understand and explain the processes of social reproduction and the mechanisms of differentiation and inequality unfolded by the different peasant groups. However, after the effort made, this situation is fortunately changing, and nowadays the interest of researchers goes beyond the family, taking into account not only their inner world, but also all the network of relationships in which the family was inserted. In fact, the greater and greater tendency to present the research in terms of social links and networks of relationships opens up new perspectives for the future.
